Kat’s group notes:
October 9th
Chatting w the group re: our personal research, jotting down hot points from each discussion from group members Alliah, KP, Sandy, Sarah and myself.
Lots of crossover in research between ethnic identities and plastic surgery/beauty norms.
Also discussed, the type of work each of us is comfortable with and what we’d like to get out of the project.
All in all this discussion resulted in us making a decision to move forward making verisons of ourselves (the team members) that make us uncomfortable. We talked in depth about how we all have different ethnic backgrounds and the different standards applied to each of us in how we are “supposed” to look. We will begin exploring the “uncanny valley” via photos of the team, creating 3D versions of self, combining all of our faces into one, for example, to push the boundaries of our personal perceptions of self, which will hopefully channel into how we move forward eventually building our avatar.
