As a practical exercise, I spent just a little time making collage characters from newspaper and magazine.

Very basic activity, but give we are trying to create a “unique avatar” I want to force the visual imagery in my head somewhere it wouldn’t normally go. 

ie when I sketch or search images online, in some ways I’m creating or looking for exactly what I want to see. 

Collage installs limitations that make it difficult to make EXACTLY what you want and instead mould your concepts around what you have to use. 

Sometimes the concepts emerge purely from the aesthetic decisions. 

I’ve included a few below for reference. Nothing to write home about but a worthwhile exercise.
